THE WINTER EDIT

Despite socially distancing, this December, we can still celebrate the joys of home, family, and friends. Ann Lowengart Interiors is fortunate that so many of our projects result in cherished friendships. For one of those projects, a stunning San Francisco William Wurster, Annie and the client shared not only the journey of a major remodel together but also of watching their teenagers transition from high school to college. California Home + Design recently featured the finished house in History Reimagined. As 2020 ends, we also received the honor of LUXE Interiors + Design, quoting Annie in their 15th Anniversary issue.

READ ALL ABOUT IT

Ann Lowengart Interiors was thrilled to have their iconic Pacific Heights William Wurster project showcased in California + Design. Annie worked seamlessly with Sutro Architects to reflect the home's modernist architecture while updating it for a modern family. As with many of Annie's design jobs, it started small but evolved into a full-blown renovation. Working with Cook Construction on the multi-level home, the design team created a dramatic stairwell with panoramic views of the Bay and urban landscape by relocating an elevator. Contemporary silhouettes, a neutral color palette, and whimsical, sometimes irreverent touches complete the interiors.

Congratulations to LUXE Interiors + Design's Publisher Lisa Lovely and Homes Editor Mary Jo Bowling on the magazine's 15th Anniversary! Thank you for including Ann Lowengart Interiors in your commemorative issue with Annie's quote in the Scene Design Dispatch section. The roundup asked designers, "What interior moments create a sense of optimism, hope, happiness, and comfort?" It was a luxurious Holly Hunt cashmere rug underfoot, and handwoven Rosemary Hallgarten throws for Annie.

THROUGH THE LENS

Despite the challenges of COVID, Ann Lowengart Interiors recently completed a successful photoshoot of their enchanting project Historic Ross. This shingled three-story home built on a pastoral gated estate includes its original fairy tale summer cottage (now a guest cottage). The renovation and reimagining of the 1941 house included the Entry, Living Room, Dining Room, Library and Bar, Family Room, Den, Breakfast Room, Kitchen, and Powder Rooms. Annie worked with photographer Paul Dyer to capture the residence's saturated hues and bold patterns mixed with contemporary furnishings and the client's antiques.

Hi Newsletter Friends,

What a doozie, huh? I’m not even going to elaborate other than to say that I am dang happy that all continues uninterrupted over here at ALI. My heart breaks for all the other entrepreneurs in the world who can’t meet their clients over Zoom like we can. So we continue our part supporting those who need it - in whatever way that presents.

But on to the fun stuff. Our projects are hummin’ along. We started work on a neat estate in Sonoma complete with miniature donkeys on-property. Their images will I’m sure make their way into the design in some unexpected ways. We are also finishing up a three year collab with Sutro (again) on a super fun house full of color and secret passageways. Speaking of secrets, our Pacific Heights project has not one, not two, but ??? hidden bars. You all know how I love wallpaper and I must say I laughed when I picked out something really sumptuous for the 1st floor bar cavity that needed only 6 square feet!

From a staffing perspective, it’s been a joy adding a new materials librarian to the mix. I knew Claire when she was a student at my kids’ grammar school and so it took me by surprise when she showed up one day with her hair in the same braids I remember her wearing in 4th grade. I was flooded with emotion as I felt that time in my soul when my littles were littles. Happy for those memories and so grateful for everything there is now. I love my job and look forward to showing you all we accomplish with our proverbial hands tied behind our backs.

Blessings,
Annie
