The Winter Edit
Winter is the time for comfort - it is the time for home.
- Edith Sitwell
Northern California has been experiencing intense atmospheric rivers with extreme rainfall, strong winds, and flooding, but it is all the more reason to take comfort in our homes. At Ann Lowengart Interiors, we strive to make every room comfortable and collected. One of our favorite spaces is the Library, a perfect place to escape to during a stormy winter's day. We've found that the book still has a cache despite technology. As do magazines, and we were so excited to see one of our projects on the cover of California Homes Magazine!

Ann Lowengart Interiors was elated to get the cover of California Homes Magazine's January/ February issue. The magazine showcased the dramatic Wine Country residence that Annie collaborated on with Jess Field of Field Architecture and general contractors Dowbuilt. An eight-page spread showcases the triad of copper-clad pavilions connected by transparent breezeways high atop Madrone Ridge. Against the shell of wood finishes and stone floors, Annie selected and installed modern and artisanal furnishings that complemented the modernist architecture and the client's contemporary art collection. Thank you to publisher Heidi Gerpheide and editor-in-chief Susan McFadden for the beautiful press.

Reading in Style: Home Libraries
In The Great Gatsby, the character of Owl Eyes is surprised that the volumes in Jay Gatsby's Gothic library are real, although unread. He expected them to be cardboard facsimiles of books. Ann Lowengart Interiors designs home libraries for people who love books and love to read. These specialty rooms often become the center of the house, where families enjoy a book, play cards, or a board game. Annie uniquely designs them for the client, as with the Ross library shown above; she took her color cue from the client's love of
Oscar de la Renta pink.

Ann Lowengart Interiors is excited to sponsor the Ross School PTO Bi-Annual Garden Walk on Saturday, May 11. This year will feature five gardens. The Rose Garden is part of a 1912 estate on top of a hill framed by mature oaks and olive trees. For an environmental approach, there is a Sustainable Garden with waterwise plantings and eco-friendly features. The Aquaponic Edible Garden uses water from a fish tank for its fruits and veggies. If you feel exotic, visit the Tropical-Inspired Garden, showcasing old-growth palm trees. The Secret Garden is 100 years old and complete with fairy houses.
